Gov. Scott seeks record $100 million to promote Florida tourism

Gov. Rick Scott will seek $100 million to help bring 100 million visitors a year to the Sunshine State. Scott announced recently that he intends to ask the Legislature for the record amount of funding for Visit Florida, the state’s tourism-promotion arm, in the 2014 budget.

LaHood joins infrastructure group with Bloomberg, Rendell

Former Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood is joining a bipartisan group focused on improving infrastructure whose members include Michael Bloomberg and Ed Rendell. LaHood (R) is joining Building America's Future as a co-chairman, the group announced Wednesday. Former New York Mayor Bloomberg (I) and former Pennsylvania Gov. Rendell (D) also share the same title.

Arctic travel conditions tie up U.S. planes, trains

VideoBrief Arctic temperatures are pressing on travelers in the United States, whether they're looking to move by plane or train. "It looks like today will be an improvement over yesterday," Daniel Baker, the CEO of FlightAware, said in an email to CNBC on Tuesday. "Airlines cancelled over 4,100 flights yesterday in the U.S. and only 2,200 so far today. The Midwest continues to be most impacted, Chicago airports have over 30 percent of their flights cancelled and Cleveland over 50 percent. Good news is only 160 flights cancelled so far tomorrow."
