Travel lobby rallies Senate support for visa reform bill

A coalition led by the U.S. Travel Association has helped coalesce Senate support for tourist visa reform around a new bipartisan bill that is getting a hearing March 27. The Jobs Originated through Launching Travel Act, introduced March 26, would expedite the process for some Indian, Chinese and Brazilian nationals to get tourist and business travel visas, boost Canadian tourism and reform the visa waiver program, which makes it easier for foreign nationals of select countries to visit the United States. Taiwan: US visa waiver efforts going smoothly

The evaluation process for Taiwan's inclusion in the U.S. visa waiver program has been smooth and is moving in a positive direction, Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. The overall development of the process for Taiwan, which was named a candidate country for the VWP in 2011, is going well following a review visit by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in March, said ministry spokesman James Chang. Survey: Rising fuel prices will alter travel plans
from USA Today
Rising gasoline prices are likely to make business and leisure travelers alter their travel plans this summer, a survey to be released today by the U.S. Travel Association finds. More than half, 54 percent, of leisure travelers who planned to travel by car say higher fuel prices would affect their plans. A smaller percentage of business travelers, 26.8 percent, would reconsider their plans. More

TSA expands PreCheck to 2 more airports
from Executive Travel
The Transportation Security Administration continues to expand the availability of its PreCheck trusted traveler security screening option with the addition of two more major airports. TSA said the special lane now is open at Chicago O'Hare's Terminal 3, Checkpoint 8, for participating members of American Airlines' AAdvantage program, and at Washington Reagan National's Terminal B, South Checkpoint, for members of Delta's SkyMiles program. Both airports are among the 28 locations targeted for expansion of PreCheck during 2012. More
