US vice-president in Brazil to boost business, diplomatic ties

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden began a three-day visit to Latin America's biggest country to meet Brazilian government and business leaders as Washington gears up for a planned state visit by President Dilma Rousseff later this year. The trip, part of a week-long swing by Biden through South America and the Caribbean, comes as Brazil's economy is slowly rebounding from a two-year lull following nearly a decade of sturdy growth.

IRS faces new scrutiny for excessive spending on conferences

Canada, US announce 'first-ever' binational border infrastructure investment plan

Canada and the U.S. announced recently they will partner on a joint Canada-United States Border Infrastructure Investment Plan. The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Vic Toews, Minister of Public Safety, along with Ray LaHood, Secretary of the United States Department of Transportation, and Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security, released the "first-ever" joint Canada-United States Border Infrastructure Investment Plan (BIIP) and said the plan fulfills a commitment made under the 2011 Canada–United States Beyond the Border Action Plan.
