Obama, Chile's Pinera discuss Visa Waiver Program

U.S. President Obama, after a meeting with Chilean President Sebastian Pinera, said they discussed Chile's participation in the Visa Waiver Program. The program allows citizens of specific countries to travel to the U.S. for tourism or business for up to 90 days without having to obtain a visa.

Travel trade show rebrands, takes fresh tack

After 45 years, the U.S. Travel Association's International Pow Wow has been rebranded to IPW for this year's event in Las Vegas. The annual trade show takes place in a different host city each year, bringing thousands of the world's largest travel buyers and media to a destination. Las Vegas last hosted the trade show in 2008.

Hotels expect best year since 2007

The hotel industry is continuing to show signs of recovery, with occupancy levels at higher-priced hotels picking up, according to a new analysis by advisory firm PwC. The firm expects revenue per available room, a key hotel benchmark, to increase 5.9 percent this year. In 2014, revenue per available room will likely increase 6.2 percent due to the improving economy and a still-anemic increase in supply of new hotels. Demand for rooms is increasing as leisure and business travel pick up.

Survey highlights value of business travel
