Gun-free zones do not work to effectively curb gun violence
The Daily Texan
It is apparent that gun-free zones do not work to effectively curb gun violence. Just take a look at the Virginia Tech massacre, the two Fort Hood mass shootings, the recent shooting at Seattle Pacific University, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, the shooting in the Perry-Castaneda Library and many others. They each took place in a gun-free zone. The reality is that gun-free zones only do one thing: They disarm law-abiding citizens, specifically concealed handgun license-holders.

'Guns kept people alive' during the civil rights movement
NPR
One of the cornerstones of the civil rights movement was nonviolent resistance. During lunch counter sit-ins and protest marches Martin Luther King Jr. and other civil rights leaders instructed participants not to take up arms. Instead, when violence erupted or force was used to disrupt their activities, people would non-violently resist attempts by law enforcement to end the protest. But this passive resistance did not necessarily mean an unwillingness to use force to protect themselves from violence in other circumstances.

The 1911 for everyday carry

But Bob Harvey, the president and chief instructor of the South Florida Gun School, is convinced that the 1911 pistol is the most reliable, hardest hitting and most simplistic of designs.

Opinion: 6 falsehoods pushed by Bloomberg's gun control apparatchiks
The Daily Caller
Michale Bloomberg, who is currently spending $50 million per year on his various gun control organizations, has pushed for everything from assault weapon bans, magazine size limits, gun-free zones, fees on people buying ammunition or guns, and a long list of other regulations. He now wants to convince us that he is very reasonable. Unfortunately, Bloomberg is the worst type of gun control true-believer: the type who believes his goals justify making up facts.

Experiencing a turkey hunt for the first time
By John McAdams
Prior to this year, John McAdams had never seriously been turkey hunting before. "I grew up hunting in a part of Texas where turkey populations were low, and I never seemed to have the time necessary to hunt turkey in New York and Georgia while I lived there," writes McAdams, who served in the U.S. Army with tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and runs The Big Game Hunting Blog. "However, I recently had a great opportunity to go on a guided turkey hunt on some private land near Spokane, Washington, during Memorial Day weekend. I jumped at the chance to get my first turkey."
