CBS affiliate. Biden unveils gun measures, says Congress must act
The Seattle Times
Vice President Joe Biden says if Congress won't act on gun control, he'll fight for a new Congress. Biden is unveiling two new steps President Barack Obama is taking on gun violence. The executive actions don't require approval from Congress, where gun legislation collapsed earlier this year. One new step will curb the import of military surplus weapons. The Obama administration is also proposing to close a loophole that lets certain weapons be registered to corporations without background checks.

Handgun review: Custom Taurus Judge
The Daily Caller
When the Taurus Judge first popped on the scene sometime around 2007, the big bore wheelgun, capable of firing virtually every .45-caliber round ever developed as well as .410 shotgun shells, was regaled for its novelty more so than respected for its true intention: To create one bad ass defensive handgun. But regardless of what drove the initial interest in the Judge, the interest was indeed there, and has continued so that Taurus continues to add configurations to the line that continues to garner plenty of fans — no small feat in this age of semi — auto handgunning.

The Daily Caller
When was the last mass shooting at a Starbucks? July 7, 1997. It was an attempted robbery, and three unarmed employees were killed. Still, persuading the national coffee chain to convert all branches into gun-free zones is a top priority of the gun control group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, which has called for a boycott of Starbucks on Aug. 24.

Bloomberg joined the contributions of 17,000 other individuals and groups "which raised a total of $708,000 between April and Aug. 22," according to Denver's FOX31.
CDC gun violence study's findings not what Obama wanted
Investor's Business Daily
The White House asked the Centers for Disease Control "to research the causes and prevention of gun violence." We're pretty sure that what the CDC found wasn't what the White House was looking for. The Democrats and their media allies, obsess over some shootings while ignoring many others. Kill innocents in a school or theater in large numbers and the media will fixate on the tragedy while Democrats wail about America's "gun culture."
Children and Guns In The Home
Down Range TV
It happened again, here in Arizona in a nearby town. A father and his four-year-old son were visiting a friend when the boy discovered a pistol hidden under a cushion and fatally shot his father, a Special Forces veteran, in the chest. For all it's worth, the pistol was a .380 ACP. Nightmarish events like this are repeated all too often. Is there something we, as firearms owners, can do to prevent these tragedies?
The legalities of the new executive order Mosin-Nagant
Shal Not Be Questioned
There is some confusion circulating among people in the blogosphere and on social media as to the effects of Obama's executive order on reimportation. It should be noted that this would only apply to a small subset of firearms that were sold to foreign countries. Ordinarily, military arms are illegal to import into the United States unless they are determined by the attorney general to be "particularly suitable for sporting purposes," which the Attorney General has since 1989 (via another executive order) interpreted to mean only suitable for hunting.
Bill Clinton at MLK celebration: It's easier to buy an assault rifle than to vote in America
During his speech at the 50th anniversary celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech in Washington D.C. Wednesday, former President Bill Clinton implied it was easier to buy an 'assault weapon' in the United States of America than it is to vote in elections. "A great democracy does not make it harder to vote than it does to buy an assault weapon," Clinton said.

With fall hunting seasons on the horizon, Ruger has announced its latest bolt-action rifle product: The Ruger American Rimfire. Combining the success of the center-fire Ruger American Rifle and the popularity of the .22 LR cartridge, the American Rimfire is meant to offer hunters and target shooters alike a "best of both worlds" firearm.
Court rules against law bucking federal gun rules
The San Francisco Chronicle
A federal appeals court ruled against state laws designed to buck federal gun rules — but advocates welcomed the court's decision for leaving open the possibility of an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed with a lower court's decision against the 2009 Montana Firearms Freedom Act, which also has been adopted in other pro-gun states. The laws attempt to declare that federal firearms regulations don't apply to guns made and kept in that state.
