North Texas WERCouncil Warehouse Resource Convention

In its 13th year, this event was the largest yet. With 40 exhibitors and 172 registered attendees, the event continues to provide value to the Dallas/Fort Worth area warehousing and logistics professionals. The exhibitors and sponsors are to be congratulated for making this year's event successful. New this year was a networking Pro Shop, sponsored by Optricity and a Putting Contest sponsored by Golf Galaxy to add a bit of fun and excitement to the event. The North Texas WERCouncil hopes to host this event again in 2015 with the help of industry suppliers and experts.

Supply chain managers concerned about port congestion

The Ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles continue to cope with peak season congestion, but operations are still sluggish. "While we were not blind-sided by the volumes coming in now, terminal operators may not have expected such a dramatic ebb and flow," said POLA Director of Media Relations Phillip Sanfield in an interview. "It's a difficult balancing act, with the rate of cargo discharge being the main problem."

A group of 47 drivers at FedEx Freight's East Philadelphia terminal in Croydon, Pennsylvania, voted to join Teamsters Local 107 in Philadelphia. The vote was 26-18.

NRF predicts 4.1 percent annual increase for 2014 holiday retail sales
