Holiday shopping on the Web is heating up. This year, almost 3.5 million more Americans are expected to join those already shopping online. That's putting more pressure on the nation's delivery services trying to avoid last year's debacle. This year, FedEx, UPS and the U.S. Postal Service said they've taken steps to make sure — echoing the lyrics of a holiday classic — that from now on, their troubles will be out of sight, reports CBS News correspondent Don Dahler.

Equipment leasing and finance industry confidence at 6-month high

The Equipment Leasing & Finance Foundation released the November 2014 Monthly Confidence Index for the Equipment Finance Industry. Designed to collect leadership data, the index reports a qualitative assessment of both the prevailing business conditions and expectations for the future as reported by key executives from the $903 billion equipment finance sector. Overall, confidence in the equipment finance market is 64.2, an increase from the October index of 60.4 and the highest level since May.

ATA's Graves: Driver shortage 'as bad as it's ever been' and getting worse

The truck driver shortage is worsening, threatening the trucking industry's ability to serve the nation's supply chains. The shortage will almost certainly cause fleets' costs to increase and shippers' rate to continue to rise. "The driver shortage is as bad as ever," Bill Graves, president and CEO of the American Trucking Associations, recently told the 28th annual meeting of the North American Transportation Employee Relations Association.
