Vaginoplasties: Here's the lowdown
The Philadelphia
Inquirer Share
"Vaginal rejuvenation" surgeries give women a chance to tighten private parts pulverized by childbirth, or to just correct those that Mother
Nature made asymetrical or imperfect, supporters of the surgeries say. "Because of the recession, most cosmetic surgeons are doing far less [business] than they have in previous years, but I'm busier than ever," said Sherman Leis, a Bala Cynwyd-based cosmetic surgeon who partially credits vaginoplasties and labiaplasties with his practice's success. "Women want to look good all over and feel better, too." Popularized by Los Angeles gynecologist David Matlock, of the reality-TV show "Dr. 90210,"
vaginal rejuvenation started more than 10 years ago as a response to functional problems, such as pelvic-floor laxity, said Mark Berman, an L.A. cosmetic surgeon and president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. More

Military funds elective cosmetic surgery
Herald Sun

Investigators looked into surgeries typically deemed cosmetic that were performed at military hospitals across the U.S. and found that 16 percent were actually cosmetic but not reported, or funded, as such. Military hospitals were also unable to
provide billing documentation for nearly 75 percent of cosmetic surgeries, although patients were supposed to pay out-of-pocket prior to the procedures. The U.S. military employs cosmetic surgeons to operate on servicemen and women severely injured in the line of duty.

It is the cosmetic procedure that sounds like many women's dream: increase the size of your breasts by up to a cup size, while taking inches off your tummy and thighs. The operation, carried out under local anaesthetic, involves the patient having fat removed during liposuction, mixed with other body cells, and then reinjected into the breasts. Unsurprisingly advocates believe this development is set to
revolutionize the cosmetic surgery industry.
