AACS 2012 Annual Scientific Meeting attracts record attendance

The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery announced its highest attendance in the Academy's history with more than 700 medical professionals at its 28th Annual Scientific Meeting. "We could not be more thrilled with the attendance for the Annual Meeting," said Dr. Angelo Cuzalina, 2011 AACS President. "The Academy is a community that continues to grow globally. And this record turnout from across the world demonstrates that the Academy's signature event, the Annual Meeting, is recognized as the premier educational meeting for cosmetic surgeons." Dr. Gerald Edds, MD, FACS, has been named president of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. Edds was officially inducted at the AACS 28th Annual Scientific Meeting in Las Vegas. "To be elected president of the leading organization for cosmetic surgeons worldwide is an incredible honor," states Edds. "The AACS remains the trusted source for the highest quality training and continuing medical educations for doctors practicing cosmetic surgery. Most of the advantages that electronic medical records deliver for medically oriented practices also apply to aesthetic surgery practices, according to Dr. William Beeson, a facial plastic surgeon in Carmel, Ind. Key drivers for EMR adoption include legislative requirements, the need to manage billing of third-party payers and the efficiency improvements that EMRs can bring to office workflow, says Beeson, who is also a clinical professor in the departments of dermatology and otolaryngology — head and neck surgery, Indiana University School of Medicine.
