Wrinkle-Blasting Laser Treatments Soar from Live Science
A cosmetic surgery technique called laser resurfacing is soaring in popularity as men and women flock to clinics to get their wrinkles smoothed out. Over the past three years, the number of procedures has increased 456 percent among men and 215 percent among women, according to new numbers released today by the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.

In Springfield, however, the recession seems to only be trickling into the decision-making process for medical care. Some Springfield health-care providers, especially those who depend on income from elective procedures that aren’t normally covered by insurance, said some patients have postponed procedures. Others are bracing for potential reductions in business, but none seems to be worried about a significant downturn.

Cancer Studies Uncover Link Between RHAMM Protein and Skin Rejuvenation from Cosmetic Surgery Times Researchers at the University of California’s Berkeley Lab have found that a protein linked to the spread of several human cancers may also have potential for the elimination of wrinkles and rejuvenation of the skin, reports Medical News Today. If their study is on the mark, the researchers say, treatment with controlled concentrations of the protein — dubbed RHAMM for Receptor for Hyaluronan Mediated Motility — could eventually replace surgical procedures or injections in accomplishing skin rejuvenation.
