More than half of patients consider budget before making medical visits

A recent survey by the American Osteopathic Association found that 57 percent considered their budget before making health-related decisions. Nearly 31 percent attempted to be frugal by skipping or reducing annual visits to their primary care physician, and 32 percent passed up or cut back on follow-up appointments. Study: More Americans skipped needed healthcare in 2010

More adults went without needed medical treatment, a dental visit or routine check-ups in 2010 than a decade earlier, according to a new study. In 2010, some 21 percent of adults under the age of 65 told a government survey that they had an unmet healthcare need, 20 percent said they hadn't been able to get into a doctor's office and 39 percent said they hadn't had a dental visit. Those numbers were all higher than responses in 2000. More
