Damage from healthcare data breaches spreading

Almost twice as many people were affected by healthcare data breaches in 2011 as in 2010, according to a report recently released. The total number of breaches dropped by 32 percent to 145 but the number of people affected by those breaches doubled to 10.8 million. More

In seeking to deduce which specific technologies are up to that task, researchers found that clinical decision support in EHRs produced the best return on investment for providers, according to a study recently published in the American Journal of Managed Care. What's more, the researchers said that the most lucrative functionality of health information exchanges was their ability to coordinate care among providers. More
