ICD-10 pushes revenue cycle management to top of priority list

CMS might be trying to evoke pleasant memories with its ICD-10 "Back to School" campaign, but providers facing a tough transition to the new code set are going to need more than apples for the teacher if they are to survive the coming year. Business 101 is top of the agenda as providers race to secure revenue cycle management tools to keep disaster from striking their bank accounts, even as conflicts and confusion reign over what to upgrade and how to pay for it.

Medical practice managers seek EHR penalty moratorium in 2015

Medical group practice administrators are calling on the Obama administration to prevent Medicare payment penalties under the federal electronic health record adoption initiative for physicians. They seek the penalty removal for doctors who already have demonstrated meaningful use of the paperless systems but whose systems do not meet the tougher standards in the next phase of the program.
