    Survey: EHRs have positive impact on healthcare, and most like them

    Capterra, a company that essentially helps software buyers connect to software sellers, has published the results of a recent survey designed to better understand the needs of medical software buyers and vendors. The survey attempts to provide an integrated picture of just how people are finding, buying and using electronic health record, or EHR, software. One of the key findings of the survey was that only 7 percent of respondents were dissatisfied with their EHR.

    Hospitals make little progress on heart failure readmissions

    CMS awards $110 million for patient safety

    Chalk one up for patient safety. Make that $110 million. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has awarded that amount in Affordable Care Act funding to 17 national, regional, or state hospital associations and health system organizations to continue efforts in reducing preventable hospital-acquired conditions and readmissions.

    Study: Health insurance deductibles outpacing wage increases

    It may not seem like much — just an extra hundred dollars or so a year. But the steady upward creep in health insurance deductibles has easily outpaced the average increase in a worker’s wages over the last five years, according to a new analysis released by the Kaiser Family Foundation.

    FDA launches patient engagement committee

    As healthcare enters an era in which "patients and their care partners participate actively in decision-making and priority-setting," FDA has launched its first-ever Patient Engagement Advisory Committee). Officials say the group will offer perspective to the FDA Commissioner on issues related to regulation of technology and medical devices, and their use by patients. FDA will learn about patient-related topics and better integrate those patient perspectives into its regulatory process.
