method of protecting teeth from cavities by ultrafine polishing with
silica nanoparticles. The researchers adopted polishing technology used
in the semiconductor industry (chemical mechanical planarization) to

Surgeons have performed the first U.S. face transplant, transferring
most of the visage of a corpse onto a woman who was missing most of her
own face. Maria Siemionow, who led the operation at the Cleveland
Clinic in Ohio, worked with a dozen specialists to rebuild the face of
a woman who was missing her right eye, nose and upper jaw. The

ADA House of Delegates Amends CAPIR Bylaws
from the American Dental Association
Amending the ADA Bylaws regarding the duties of the ADA Council on
Access, Prevention and Interprofessional Relations, the ADA House of
Delegates reinforced the council's role to work with internal and
external groups to evaluate public health trends, recommend policy and
improve access to care, said Dr. Lindsey A. Robinson, council chair.
The House adopted Resolution 40H-2008 during its recent annual session.
