Study shows nearly one-third of human genome is involved in gingivitis
Science Daily    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Gingivitis, which may affect more than one-half of the U.S. adult population, is a condition commonly attributed to lapses in simple oral hygiene habits. However, a new study shows that development and reversal of gingivitis at the molecular level is apparently much more complicated than its causes might indicate. Fracture putty
WSOC-TV    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Bone Fractures Researchers say fractures are a leading cause of injury-related hospital admissions in the U.S. When a bone breaks, the body must close the gap and bring the ends together to form a solid unit. First, a blood clot forms around the break to seal off the area and form a callous, or fibrous tissue. Slowly, bone cells form tiny threads that grow toward the other side, meeting in the middle to bridge the break. As more and more bone cells fill in the space, the break becomes more solid. Eventually, the fracture closes. More

Crooked teeth can damage dental health
DentalPlans.com    Share    Share on FacebookTwitterShare on LinkedinE-mail article
Some adults choose not to get braces because they believe having crooked teeth only affects the way their smile looks, but misalignment can also damage dental health. According to a study conducted by the National Center for Health Statistics, 75 percent of Americans have crooked teeth. Many of these people choose not to get their smiles straightened because they are afraid of how they'll look with braces, and therefore put themselves at risk of damaging their dental health so as to not harm their appearance.
