Current treatment of allergic asthma consists in administering corticoids that treat the symptoms and temporarily relieve the disorder, but without curing it. An alternative, long-lasting treatment for this condition is based on a specific immunotherapeutic protocol commonly known as desensitization. Recently, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) sent out comparative billing reports (CBR) to providers addressing their advanced diagnostic imaging use compared to their "peers." The Academy urges members who received CBRs to contact their Carrier to discuss any questions or concerns, such as the definition of peer, they may have with the reports.
