There is a paucity of literature describing optimal intervention for those suffering with pain secondary to peroneal tendinopathy. The purpose of this case report is to describe the evaluation and treatment incorporating manual therapy and therapeutic exercise for a patient diagnosed with peroneal tendinopathy.

Hegu acupuncture for chronic low back pain

Acupuncture has long been employed for the treatment of chronic low back pain. However, very few studies have characterized the effectiveness of the different acupuncture modes for CLBP. (This is an abstract. The present study protocol outlines a single blinded randomized controlled trial evaluating the effect of tailored treatment for neck-shoulder pain. An extensive presentation of the tests and treatment decision model is provided. The main treatment components are manual therapy, cranio-cervical flexion exercise and strength training, EMG-biofeedback training, treatment for cervicogenic headache and neck motor control training.

Epidemiology of musculoskeletal injury in the tennis player

Tennis is a popular sport with tens of millions of players participating worldwide. The volume of play, combined with the physical demands of the sports, can lead to injuries of the musculoskeletal system. This review discusses the epidemiology of injuries frequently experienced in tennis players and examines some of these injuries' correlation with the development of osteoarthritis. (This is an abstract. Mild separation of the symphysis pubis may be physiological, without any specific symptoms, but a diastasis of more than 10-mm should be regarded as pathological. SPD is usually associated with discomfort in the pelvis and upper thigh, leading to difficulty in walking. This case report demonstrates a therapeutic exercise program as a noninvasive functional treatment for SPD and reports its results.

Patient-centered outcomes of high-velocity, low-amplitude spinal manipulation for low back pain

Low back pain is a well-recognized public health problem with no clear gold standard medical approach to treatment. Thus, those with LBP frequently turn to treatments such as spinal manipulation. Many clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate the efficacy or effectiveness of SM for LBP. The primary objective of this paper was to describe the current literature on patient-centered outcomes following a specific type of commonly used SM, high-velocity low-amplitude, in patients with LBP. (This is an abstract. A total of seven RCTs were identified, i.e. one study applied physiotherapy ± temporomadibular mobilization techniques and six studies applied cervical spinal manipulative therapy.

Knee OA: Which patients are unlikely to benefit from manual PT and exercise?

The combination of manual physical therapy and exercise provides important benefit for more than 80 percent of patients with knee osteoarthritis.
