Does using computer-controlled local anesthetic delivery technology for an intraligamentary injection on primary teeth in pediatric patients cause damage to
the underlying, developing adult permanent tooth? Not according to a new study in the International Journal of Paediatric Dentistry. Intraligamental anesthesia delivered by a high-pressure syringe often is associated with damage to the periodontal tissue. times by the time they turn 60. But the message hasn't taken hold in China's capital. A survey by the Beijing Stomatological Hospital shows that fewer than half of middle-age residents in Beijing clean their teeth even twice a week. And no more than 1 percent of people use dental floss.

Advocates for uninsured Virginians say slow action from state and federal officials means that thousands of residents who could have received free dental care this summer will go unserved unless Congress intervenes. Virginia received authorization from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to use money from the state's Temporary Assistance for Needy Families fund to provide dental care to uninsured residents.
