Take Charge of Your Career
A lot goes into securing and keeping a job. Education and skill in the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical sciences are just the beginning and allow you to get your foot in the door. However, networking and social soft skills enable you to keep your job, or if you’re laid off, allow you find a new position with minimal time being unemployed.

Building a network and making connections are the most valuable steps to take in advancing your career — both within and outside of your current position. Knowing someone who can hand deliver your résumé for a job opening will make you stand out over the often hundreds of résumés that arrive via email and online submissions.

How NHS Pharmacists Can Secure A Promotion

For a pharmacist working in the NHS, getting promoted usually means progressing to the next ‘Agenda for change’ pay band. A newly registered pharmacist typically starts at band 6 and may seek to progress to band 7, usually after gaining 1–2 years’ experience and completing a clinical diploma. Achieving a promotion to band 8a, however, can be a bigger hurdle.
