White House scraps aviation user fee push for FY 2016

The White House is reversing course in its fiscal year 2016 budget, dropping the proposed $100 air traffic control user fee that had been the mainstay over the past several budgets. But at the same time, the Obama administration continues its proposed change in business aircraft depreciation schedules.

Schulz participates in House Aviation Event
ACC
ACC President T.J. Schulz participated in a reception hosted by the House Aviation Subcommittee that served as a “kick off” to the upcoming FAA reauthorization efforts. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster (R-PA) was joined by Ranking Member Peter DeFazio (D-OR) and House Aviation Subcommittee chair Frank LoBiondo (R-NJ) and subcommittee Ranking Member Rick Larsen (D-WA) at the event, where Shuster reiterated his intention to present a “transformative” bill. Schulz also met with committee staff to discuss the reauthorization status and opportunities for ACC member engagement. Discussions were held with other stakeholders from AAAE, NASAO, AMAC and other organizations on opportunities to collaborate on the reauthorization effort.

SMC participates in TSA industry day on acquisitions reform bill

The perspectives of the ACC’s Security Manufacturers Coalition (SMC) and ACC members were shared during an industry day held at the TSA offices to gain input on the newly passed Transportation Security Acquisition Reform Act. SMC Directory T.J. Schulz partnered with the Washington Homeland Security Roundtable. One of the key provisions of the Act, which was signed by the president on December 18, 2014, directs the TSA to present to Congress a 5-year investment plan that is developed with input from the industry. Issue-specific working groups will be developed to outline recommendations on systems architecture, passenger screening, checked baggage systems and the acquisitions process.
