TSA releases technology investment plan
ACC
On May 30, the TSA Office of Security Capabilities released its Transportation Security Strategic Capability Investment Plan, which is intended "to provide a cohesive vision for the development and successful transition of technology and security solutions" over the next five years. This plan identifies priority areas for TSA's security capability investments and principles for executing against the plan. It organizes TSA's priorities into the following five strategic capability investment areas: Aviation Threat Detection; Real Time Threat Assessment; Integration and Flexibility; Systems Engineering and Governance; and Intermodal Threat Detection. ACC and its Security Manufacturers Coalition welcomed the release of the document. "The investment plan is a significant step forward for both TSA and technology manufacturers. For the first time since TSA's inception, manufacturers will have the opportunity to better target future technology investments to allow for closer alignment with TSA's screening and detection needs at checkpoint and beyond," said T.J. Schulz, president of ACC and director of the Security Manufacturers Coalition.
