ACC Meets with NASAO Interim President and CEO Kim Stevens
ACC
ACC met with National Association of State Aviation Officials (NASAO) Interim President and CEO Kim Stevens to discuss NASAO’s unique role in aviation, its relationship with FAA, and future opportunities for collaboration with ACC. The upcoming reauthorization of the Federal Aviation Administration was a key topic of discussion, including the need for a united voice form the airports community to advocate for funding in the new bill. ACC and Stevens also discussed the FAA’s ASSET initiative and changes to the categorization of General Aviation airports, and the impact from recent reductions in air service to some communities due to revised pilot hours of service regulations. Opportunities were also explored to enhance partnerships between ACC and NASAO in events and other arenas. Kim joined NASAO in 2013 as Director, Member Relations and Communications and brings to his position twenty years of experience with state aviation. He is a former director of the Nebraska Department of Aeronautics and deputy director of the Arizona Department of Transportation, Aeronautics Division.

Deadline extended for comments to FAA Draft Advisory Circular 150/5100-14
ACC
Last month, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released the draft update of AC 150/5100-14, Architectural, Engineering, and Planning Consultant Services (draft version 14E). This advisory circular provides guidance for airport sponsors in the selection and engagement of architectural, engineering, and planning consultants. It also discusses services that normally would be included in an airport grant project, types of contracts for these services, contract format and provisions, and guidelines for determining the reasonableness of consultant fees. ACC has convened a task force to review the draft AC and develop comments on behalf of the membership and also welcomes comments and concerns from all member companies. ACC members should send comments to Chris Spaulding at chriss@acconline.org by the new deadline of Monday, July 7 at 12:00 p.m.
