Ray LaHood to head search committee for new city aviation chief

Mayor Rahm Emanuel has tapped a close friend, former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, to head a search committee to recommend top candidates for Chicago's next aviation commissioner, officials said. The effort to conduct what LaHood described as a "nationwide search" may represent a break from the past, when appointments were based largely on local politics and the individuals selected had no prior experience working at an airport or an airline.

Engineering firm develops new airport asphalt

A new type of asphalt that could soon have a dramatic impact on airports around the world got its start in Northwest Florida. AVCON, a Niceville, Florida-based engineering and planning firm, has partnered with Dr. Bob Boyer, a retired engineer from the Asphalt Institute who lives in Lynn Haven, to develop a new asphalt that is performs better at high temperatures, is stiffer and fuel resistant.

Leidos awarded contract by Wichita Airport Authority

Sheremetyevo International selects AECOM for expansion projects

The management of Terminal B Sheremetyevo and SP Sheremetyevo Inter-Terminal Passage signed two agreements with the transportation project management firm on July 8. They include construction of a new Terminal B of the Northern Terminal Complex and Inter-Terminal Passage, the passenger and luggage tunnels between STC and NTC.

Airport taxiway apron pact awarded
The Daily News
Genesee County legislators awarded a contract to Keeler Construction of Albion to build a T-hangar taxiway apron at the county airport. Legislators unanimously approved a $490,415 contract to Keeler, along with a $97,650 contract to C&S Engineers for inspection and administration services for the project
