ACC submits comments on consultant selection AC 150/5100-14E
ACC
On July 11, ACC submitted comments on the most recent draft of FAA Advisory Circular 150/5100-14E, Architectural, Engineering, and Planning Consultant Services for Airport Grant Projects. Comments were collected via a focus group as well as directly from ACC members. Those comments were consolidated into a master matrix and submitted to FAA.

There were a number of recommendations offered by ACC members, but several provisions in the revised AC attracted specific attention. One of those sections covered multi-project procurements.

Meeting of new Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC)
ACC
The newly-reconstituted Aviation Security Advisory Committee (ASAC) met on July 11, 2014 at TSA Headquarters to review their activities and future priority areas of focus. The ASAC is chaired by Steve Alterman of the Air Cargo Association and the vice chair is Ken Dunlap with the International Air Transport Association. Several ACC members attended the public portion of the meeting. Risk-based Security continues to be a priority of the ASAC, and perimeter security may be a new focus area. The TSA will take input from ASAC members and develop subcommittees, which can include industry representatives that are not members of the ASAC. ACC is sending a letter to the TSA requesting that security technology be a key focus area in the charters of subcommittees, and that industry representatives are named as subcommittee members. On a related note, the Senate Commerce Committee may mark up legislation codifying the ASAC this summer. Similar legislation cleared the House of Representatives by an overwhelming bipartisan vote.
