The NextGen Institute, a public-private partnership between the FAA and the National Center for Advanced Technologies, addressed, at its public forum entitled "Achieving Gains, Building the Future," issues related to the Automatic Dependent Surveillance — Broadcast implementation mandate set for 2020, as well as the roles Unmanned Aircraft Systems will play in in that mandate, among other topics.

ACC at Flying Classroom launch and career fair
ACC
ACC's TJ Schulz and Chris Spaulding talked with hundreds of DC-area high school students about careers in airport development at a career fair featuring the launch of Barrington Irving's Flying Classroom. Held at the Signature Flight Support Hangar at Ronald Reagan National Airport on Tuesday, the career fair featured a business jet — transformed into a virtual classroom — that is linked to an online portal curriculum that allows students in grades 3-10 to participate in 16 STEM designed lessons. The mission is led by Guinness World Record holder and National Geographic Emerging Explorer, Captain Barrington Irving. Over 750 attendees, including 27 exhibitors and 568 students from DC and Baltimore area schools, attended this successful kickoff of Irving's flight-journey, which was organized by the Aero Club of Washington. Find photos from the event on our Facebook page or more information about the program!
