ACA Repeal Vote Delayed Until After 100-Day Mark
Becker's Hospital Review
House Republican leaders decided in a "late-night huddle" to postpone a vote on the latest ACA repeal plan, pushing the decision past the Trump administration's first 100 days mark, Politico reported.
GOP leaders decided to shelve the vote until at least next week because they did not have the votes necessary to pass the bill, according to the report.

Hospital Impact: Physician Advisers Play Evolving, Integral Role in Today's Hospitals
As the financial stakes for hospitals and health systems rise along with the shift from volume- to value-based care, aligning with physicians to achieve the goals of the organization is no longer optional — it's essential. In fact, for many hospital executives, inadequate physician engagement may be preventing them from successfully transitioning to value-based care.
Study: CMS Penalties Unfair, Lower Readmission Rates Don't Correlate With Improved Outcomes
A new study suggests penalties for excessive readmission rates of heart attack patients are unfair to hospitals that serve socioeconomically disadvantaged populations.
Since the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services rolled out the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program (HRRP) in 2012, federal penalties have led to lower readmission rates. Results of a study published in JAMA Cardiology found no correlation between those lower readmission numbers and the level of care delivered, nor did they find a correlation with improved outcomes.
FCC Seeks Information About Broadband-Enabled Healthcare
In recognition of how healthcare can benefit from greater broadband connectivity, the Federal Communications Commission is asking the healthcare and broadband industries how the agency should promote the use of connected healthcare technologies.
The FCC said in its public notice that its Connect2Health task force would use any information it gleans to promote broadband use through policy, allow developers to create accessible broadband healthcare technologies, and improve telehealth infrastructure in the U.S.
Nurse-Designed Care Models Promote a Culture of Health
Care models designed by nurses show success in advancing a national focus on sustaining a culture of health and well-being, but they face funding challenges, according to a new study.
The American Academy of Nursing, with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and in cooperation with the RAND Corporation, surveyed three care models to examine the keys to success behind innovative care models designed by nurses. The models in the study focused on pregnant women, low-income patients, and teachers, students and parents.
