For your holiday star: A gift for the person who has everything
Are you having difficulty coming up with gift ideas for that person who has everything? Recognize those who mean the most to you — your "holiday stars" — by honoring them with a donation to ACMA in their name. Clients, colleagues, family, friends, directors, staff, physician advisors, departments, chapters, hospitals/healthcare delivery systems, mentors and more — honor them all as your stars this holiday season.

By making a donation to ACMA and recognizing your holiday star(s), their name will be listed: in ACMA's Collaborative Case Management journal, in ACMA's briefCASE e-newsletter and on the ACMA website. All proceeds support ACMA's fundraising efforts, and as ACMA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donation is tax deductible.

Donate today and recognize your holiday star — click here.

Ebola fears speed changes in US hospital record systems
The worst Ebola outbreak on record, and its spread beyond West Africa, has accelerated changes in how U.S. hospitals address the threat of infectious diseases, say health IT companies and industry experts. After more than five years and a $25 billion investment of federal money to move U.S. medical records out of paper files and into computers, doctors say the systems lack analytical functions, don't allow them to share information with colleagues in other practices and require too much time to enter data.

Uninsured rates fell under Obamacare, but who's reaping the benefit?
Los Angles Times
Hospitals and health insurers have reaped a financial windfall from the 2014 rollout of the federal health law, even beyond what was expected. Now, employers and consumers are seeking a share of the Obamacare dividend. For years, insurance companies and hospitals told Americans that one reason their insurance bills were so high was because they were paying the hidden cost of medical care for the uninsured.

Respect: The key to patient safety and preventing medical errors
They say respect is a two-way street, and if a new Consumer Reports survey is any indication, that street is paved with better, safer medical care. The survey findings are detailed in a report called "How Not to Get Sick(er) in the Hospital." The publication polled 1,200 people who were hospitalized in the last six months and found that those who rarely felt respected by healthcare workers were two and a half times more likely to fall victim to a medical error than those who reported they were treated well.
