However, attendance at the live sessions is not required, and session recordings are available. On-Demand Courses are shorter and focused on a particular topic area in depth. Darren Griffin will discuss the pros and cons of genetic screening. Meet Your Experts Darren Griffin, Ph.D., is professor of genetics at the University of Kent, UK. Previously he was professor of genetics at Brunel University. In 2002, he was admitted as a fellow of the Society of Biology, and in 2008 he was awarded both a fellowship of the Royal College of Pathologists and Doctor of Science from the University of Manchester. He was awarded the Institutional Teaching Prize for his work in supervising graduate students and recently was shortlisted for Research Project of the Year by the Times Higher Education supplement. Griffin completed his post-doctoral research in Cleveland and at The University of Cambridge. He received his doctorate from University College London in 1992 after graduating from the University of Manchester in 1988. Griffin launched a master's course in reproductive medicine (science and ethics) at the University of Kent in September 2011. Dr. Jeni Smith received her bachelor's degree from Pennsylvania State University and her doctorate in physiological chemistry from The Ohio State University. She has been a special agent with the FBI, principal of BioForensic Consulting LLC and section chief of the Intelligence and Analysis Section in the Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate of the FBI. Smith participated in the Unabomber investigation, the Oklahoma City bombing investigation and oversaw the collection and analysis of President Bill Clinton's DNA in the Monica Lewinski investigation. She also was involved in the establishment of the National DNA Database. Smith is a member of the Director of National Intelligence Biosciences Expert Group and the Biochem 20/20 Science Expert Group. Register now!
