Sports Medicine Bulletin is being delivered this week from the 2011 ACSM Annual Meeting and 2nd World Congress on Exercise is Medicine® in Denver. A record number of scientific and clinical abstracts will be presented this week by researchers from around the world.

On-site registration is available at the Colorado Convention Center. Sports Medicine Bulletin will return to its regular format on Tuesday, June 14.

EIM World Congress Events Take Center Stage Today

The 2nd World Congress on Exercise is Medicine is packed with educational sessions, networking opportunities and everything in-between. Be there as the festivities begin today at 1:45 p.m. with EIM keynote lecture “Supersize My Exercise! Learning from Mad Men, the Marlboro Man and Freakonomics to Promote Physical Activity” by Karim Khan, M.D., Ph.D.

Stop by the Capitol Lobby at 4:30 p.m. to hear Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper share what his state is doing to promote physical activity and health among residents.

Join Senator John Barasso (R-Wy) and “The Biggest Loser” finalist Tara Costa, along with other EIM ambassadors, as we take to the streets in Denver. The EIM Community Walk will leave from the Hyatt Regency at 6 p.m. and wind through downtown Denver before returning to the hotel for the EIM Opening Ceremony.

Tonight, EIM and our global partners will come together over live entertainment, a light reception and a cash bar for the EIM Opening Ceremony. Guests will have the chance to share ideas about ongoing EIM work in the U.S. and abroad and network with representatives from the newly developed EIM Regional Centers. In addition, the Opening Ceremony will feature an EIM showcase highlighting successful programs from around the world.
