Policy Corner: Obesity Recommendations Open for Comment
The public comment period on the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force’s (USPSTF) obesity screening and management statement provides an opportunity for ACSM members to contribute to policy decisions individually and collectively. John Jakicic, Ph.D., FACSM, and his colleagues on the ad hoc committee on obesity prevention and treatment will prepare comments on behalf of ACSM. In addition, individual members may wish to submit their own comments on the draft recommendations. The public comment period ends Wednesday, Nov. 23.
USPSTF Opportunity for Public Comment: Screening and Management of Obesity in Adults
The USPSTF is inviting public comment on its draft recommendation statement on screening and management of obesity in adults. The draft recommendation statement on screening and management of obesity in adults is an update of the 2003 USPSTF recommendation. Comment on the statement.
The evidence report that informed the draft recommendation was published in the Oct. 4 issue of Annals of Internal Medicine and is also available on the USPSTF website. The opportunity to comment on this draft recommendation statement will be available until Wednesday, Nov. 23.
