The Geoscience Congressional Visits Day in Washington, D.C., will be Sept. 17 and 18. The American Geosciences Institute invites practicing geologists to participate and raise visibility and support for the geosciences. AGI contends the most effective way to inform and have an impact on federal science policy is though a constructive visit like this from citizen geoscientists.

Outstanding Section Award nominations
AEG
Submittal of an annual report and application by Aug. 15 will qualify a section for consideration for the "Outstanding Section Award." The Board of Directors established this award in 2001 to honor a section of the association judged to excel in a number of areas including professional activities, communications, membership and networking. The Outstanding Section Award recipient will receive a $750 monetary award to be used by the section. Please send your annual report and application to Becky Roland to apply. The Section/Chapter Support Committee reviews reports and applications.

Impact of shale gas development on regional water quality

Mapping the geology of Skyrim
