The National Insulation Association reports that mechanical insulation could result in savings of $4.8 billion a year for commercial and industrial market segments, as well as carbon dioxide reductions of 43 million metric tons per year—equal to the carbon dioxide reductions if mature trees were planted in an area the size of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined. Fort Benning Army Base converts landfill gas into energy with FlexEnergy Powerstations Inhabitat Share
From solar powered backpacks and generators to LED lights in submarines, the U.S. military has been implementing green technologies across the board.
