Healthy food no more costly than junk food, government finds

Contrary to popular belief, many healthy foods are no more expensive than junk food, according to a large new government analysis. In fact, carrots, onions, pinto beans, lettuce, mashed potatoes, bananas and orange juice all are less expensive per portion than soft drinks, ice cream, chocolate candy and other snacks, the report says. Free trade deal begins between Colombia, US

A free trade agreement between the U.S. and Colombia took effect Tuesday after years of negotiations and despite strong opposition from U.S. labor organizations, which are worried about jobs being sent abroad and union-busting violence in Colombia.
