Soon after, the local fire marshal rallied the community to donate a sprinkler system. Recently, the house caught on fire again. A sprinkler head was activated and it put out the fire within minutes.

Northlake, Ill., Private Condos Get Loan from City for Sprinkler System

The city of Northlake, Ill., is loaning a private condominium building around $50,000 to install a sprinkler system. On August 3, the Northlake City Council voted to propose a special service area -- the city's first -- for King Arthur Condominiums building. The building contains 20 condos. A public hearing, which is scheduled for Sept. 21, is required before the ordinance takes effect. More
