There was a fire overnight at Branson Meadow Assisted Living in Branson, Mo. Branson Division Fire Chief Ted Martin says the fire was actually out before they got there, thanks to a sprinkler system.

Sprinklers Douse Flames At Children's Hospital

Fire officials say a sprinkler system doused a fire in the parking garage at Children's Hospital. A car caught fire and spread to several other vehicles.
Damage is undetermined to the vehicles. There was no structural damage to the garage.
Officials say no patients were ever in any danger, there was no need to evacuate the hospital.

City Links Tax Breaks, Sprinklers

If Columbia, S.C., property owners install sprinkler systems in 2009, city officials will help them pay for it. Columbia has become the first city in South Carolina to take advantage of a new state law giving tax breaks to property owners who install sprinkler systems. Columbia’s ordinance will refund a property owner 25 percent of the cost of the sprinkler system over four years. The ordinance also triggers a 25 percent state refund, which would mean property owners could get a sprinkler system for about half price. More
