Fire Next Door to Sprinkler Business Put Out Quickly from Deseret News – June 26, 2009
In business, it's all about location, location, location. For one business in South Salt Lake, Utah, location may have saved the store. A fire started at Tech Advanced Materials.The business uses acetone, a highly flammable substance, in metal materials, said South Salt Lake Fire Chief Steve Foote. As luck would have it, the adjacent business, Simplex Grinnell, specialized in fire sprinkler systems and had one installed throughout the complex.

Cheshire, Conn., Fire Officials Hope Sprinklers Become More Common
from The Cheshire Herald – June 30, 2009 Approximately 40 homes in Cheshire are already equipped with fire suppression sprinkler systems, but that number was increased recently when a development was completed in town and local fire department authorities are applauding the action. With over $7 billion worth of fire damage caused nationally in 2007, Casner believes those numbers could have been greatly reduced if residential sprinklers were prevalent in many homes.

Sprinkler Extinguishes South Carolina Rug and Home Store Fire

Cherokee County firefighters responded to a fire at the Rug and Home store in Gaffney, S.C. The sprinkler system put the fire out before fire crews even arrived. The store's manager said there is about $1 million worth of rugs and furniture on hold for customers, but he said none of it was damaged.

Alabama Mill Fire Kept in Check by Sprinklers
from Opelika-Auburn News – June 26, 2009 No one was injured after a fire broke out at the Norman W. Paschall Co. utilization facility in Valley, Ala. Byron Pigg, chief of the East Alabama Fire District, said they responded shortly after the call and found a machine and raw materials near the machine on fire. Pigg said the building’s sprinkler system had turned on and kept the fire under control until firefighters could extinguish it completely.
