<title>International Residential Code will retain fire sprinklers for new homes in 2012 edition</title>
<description>The final action hearing agenda for the 2012 International Residential Code (IRC) has been released by the International Code Council (ICC), and there were no public comments challenging code requirements for residential fire sprinklers.  Accordingly, under ICC regulations, requirements for residential sprinklers will not be subject to debate at ICC's final action hearing in Dallas in May.</description>

<title>South Carolina officials push new law</title>
<description>State and local leaders gathered in Charleston, S.C., in hopes of dousing opposition to a new law that requires mandatory sprinkler systems in all new residential construction. 

Mayor Joe Riley, Fire Chief Tom Carr and S.C. Fire Marshal John Reich led a press conference at the Charleston Maritime Center in response to some state lawmakers' attempts to counter the state's adoption of the international building code that makes sprinklers a minimum requirement.</description>
