productivity decreased in 2008 in 12 of the 17 economies compared by the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics. The Republic of Korea and the United States had the largest productivity increases (1.2 percent each) among the five economies where productivity increased. Rising Tata Motors takes over a Spanish bus maker

making noises about becoming one of the world's biggest makers of cars and buses, has made a move into the European Union with the acquisition of the remaining 79 percent stake in Spanish bus maker Hispano Carrocera, one of Europe's main bus and coach manufacturers. Tata Motors, which is India's largest automobile company by sales, said it bought the additional stake by exercising an existing call option with the other shareholder, Spain's Investalia. More

Ford said to make SUV in Kentucky to export to Europe

Ford Motor Co. is moving production of a small sport-utility vehicle from Europe to the U.S. to take advantage of lower labor costs and the weaker dollar, according to three people familiar with the plan. Cleveland UAW unit ratifies Ford contract

Union members of UAW Local 1250 who work at an engine complex near Cleveland on Thursday approved changes to a labor
contract with Ford Motor Co. even thought the agreement would freeze entry-level wages until 2015. The contract also was ratified at UAW Local 900, which represents workers Ford's Wayne Assembly Plant, according to one official who asked not to be named. More
