AGTA Features Spectrum Awards™ Entries at Oscars®

Ashleigh Branstetter Blue Topaz Cufflinks, Men’s Wear - Manufacturing Honors
The American Gem Trade Association (AGTA) recently showcased jewelry designs from the AGTA Spectrum Awards™ at the StyleLab Academy Award Red Carpet Jewelry Preview in Beverly Hills, CA. The jewelry was selected with input from stylist and television commentator Michael O’Connor of Style & Substance, Inc.

Three Spectrum Award-winning pieces from the collection were selected and worn to the Academy Awards®. Mauro Fiore, who won the Oscar® for Cinematography for Avatar, wore London blue topaz cabochon and diamond platinum cufflinks by Ashleigh Branstetter; Bob Murawski, who won the Oscar® for Editing on The Hurt Locker, wore Basser & Bigio’s blue sapphire slice platinum cufflinks; and Yael Designs’ black & white diamond “Lava” earrings were worn by Oscar®-nominee (District 9) Dan Kaufman’s date.

Seventeen AGTA Spectrum Awards™ pieces, both winners and non-winners, were chosen for the collection. Designs by Ashleigh Branstetter, Evelyn Clothier, Paula Crevoshay, Samuel Getz, Omi Gems, Suna Brothers, Yael Designs and Ariane Zurcher were represented in the suite along with several other designers, including AGTA members and Spectrum Award winners Erica Courtney and J.W. Currens. Stylists and celebrities visited the suite March 4 – 5 to select jewelry to wear to the Academy Awards® and related after-parties.

“This was a great opportunity for AGTA, the AGTA Spectrum Awards™ and the individual designers to get some incredible exposure at a very high profile event,” stated Douglas K. Hucker, AGTA CEO. “The collection featured a beautiful palette of colored gemstones, woven into amazing designs by our Spectrum Awards entrants.”

The AGTA Spectrum Awards™ is an annual competition for designers using colored gemstones and pearls. The competition has been in existence for over 25 years and is widely recognized as the premier jewelry design competition in world.
