Aloft Hotels tests keyless check in

Call it convenient, even antisocial, but Aloft Hotels—a Starwood brand that targets younger business travelers—is testing a new key card system that allows registering guests to bypass the front desk and head straight for their rooms. The new system, being piloted at the brand’s location in Lexington, Mass., hinges on a key card embedded with a radio chip that unlocks the door – much like the subway passes in Chicago or the cards for Zipcar car rentals. Reports show modest but steady economic recovery
