Kwikset Signature Series SmartCode touchpad electronic deadbolt review
Technology Tell
According to author Krissy Rushing: I have four kids, two of which I share with my husband's ex, at whose household they spend part of the week. Needless to say, there is a constant stream of human comings-and-goings in our household, all to the vulnerability of home security. Of course, in the mind of a teenager, the lowly house key is afforded very little mind space.

Breaking and entering
Kearney Hub
Many times when firefighters arrive at a scene they can't enter a house or business because the door is locked. If there isn't a raging fire inside firefighters are taught to take a few seconds and try to enter the building causing the least amount of damage to property. That means firefighters must know the various kinds of locks, and the tools to get them through the door. And no one knows locks, or how to bypass them better than Kelly Hardin, one of the Kearney, Neb., volunteer fire department's assistant chiefs, and a professional locksmith.

California sheriff wants access to home security videos
KTXL-TV
Sacramento County, Calif., Sheriff Scott Jones has launched a program that uses home security cameras to help solve crimes in a hurry. The Sheriff's Electronic Eye program, or SEE, registers homeowners with cameras. Home security cameras are used more often as they become cheaper. The problem is no one knows how many there are or where they are. Detectives often have to canvas neighborhoods where a crime has occurred or appeal to the media to homeowners who might have cameras facing the street. The SEE program allows investigators to e-mail or call homeowners and ask them to review their video recordings.

Does your business suffer from PMS?
By Greg L. Alston
No, I am not talking about the health issue that women encounter once a month. What I am talking about is the devastatingly destructive force created by a series of bad assumptions known as the parallactic myth syndrome (PMS). When an individual or a business operates under a set of assumptions, those assumptions are always subject to a potential parallactic effect. If the operating assumptions and point of view of the business are not aiming at the correct target the results can be catastrophic.
