 The ALQ Forum

It has been over three months since we started the ALQ Forum and with approximately 1000 members to date, we have enjoyed many interesting discussions, debates and conversations. Some of the most popular topics have included:
  • Are attorney demand letters an effective tool on commercial accounts or a waste of time and money?
  • How does one value their business and/or law firm?
  • Have forwardings to law firms and collection agencies (dried up) in the debt buying industry?
  • What is your most unusual collection experience?
  • Do women or men make better debt collectors?
  • Should agency owners have personal liability for actions of "rogue" collectors who use threats of foreclosure, jail, etc?
Participating in a LinkedIn discussion group has many benefits. Not only are you able to express your knowledge and expertise, but you will also gain a tremendous number of ideas and valuable information from the other participants.

Click here to join, and we're greatly looking forward to seeing you there.

Finding the right CCO isn't a simple hiring decision; it's a decision that reflects on an organization's basic values, appetite for risk and relationship with the larger commercial community.

Should the IRS use private collection agencies to pursue tax debts?
The Washington Post
A federal worker union is fighting bipartisan plans that would require the Treasury Department to contract with private collection agencies to pursue tax debts the Internal Revenue Service is not addressing. The National Treasury Employees Union said in a statement that a similar effort between 2006 and 2009 caused the government to miss out on millions of dollars in potential revenue while paying $102 million to cover administrative and commission costs.
