EPA Proposing Revisions to the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act
American Supply Association
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has proposed a revision to the existing Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act (RLDWA). The proposed revision will require labeling of plumbing products to differentiate plumbing products that meet the lead free requirements from those that are exempt from the lead free requirements and to require manufacturers to certify compliance with the lead free requirements. The intent of the proposed revision is to reduce the inadvertent use of non-lead free plumbing products in potable use applications and, consequently, reduce exposure to lead in drinking water and associated adverse health effects. The roundtable panel sat down for an hour-plus-long exclusive interview during ASA's annual convention that morphed into a collaborative and insightful discussion on many industry-relevant topics, including current market conditions, the adaptation of technology, ways to bring new talent into the industry and even candid moments such as navigating family succession among non-family employees.More

ASA Washington Update
American Supply Association
When a new president is elected, millions of voters begin to hope that the work of the previous administration will be undone and all of the policies and promises on which their candidate campaigned will come to fruition. As history tells us, that's only partially true. The phone and the pen, about which former President Obama ominously warned his opponents, have their limits. The reviled overtime rule was started with an executive order, but it was the months of work conducted afterwards by the Department of Labor that led to its writing as a binding rule, only to be challenged in the courts.
