Subdued US Industrial Economy Poised to Grow in 2017

According to ITR Economics, average US Industrial Production, a benchmark for the US economy comprised of mining, manufacturing and utilities, was down 1.0 percent for 2016 compared to the 2015 level. Only US Total Manufacturing avoided recession with most of the weakness in industrial production concentrated in the mining and utilities components. With production levels currently rising, US Industrial Production is now in recovery. Leading indicators, such as the ITR Leading Indicator and the US Total Industry Capacity Utilization Rate, suggest that the US industrial economy will grow through the majority of 2017. ASA enjoyed its fifth consecutive year of net membership growth in 2016, and since January 1st, seven companies have joined ASA as new members, of which four are wholesaler-distributors and one is also a member of Omni Corporate Services: North Carolina-based Ruehlen Supply Co. And last week, association staff was in San Antonio for Omni's 2017 Spring Conference. Aaron & Co.'s Richard Laudino Passes Away

Richard Laudino, co-owner of Piscataway, N.J.-based Aaron & Co., died recently at the age of 62 after battling cancer, the company announced. Laudino is survived by his wife, Patty, children Michael and Kathryn, son-in-law, John, granddaughter, Anna Rose, parents Frank Sr., and Betty, sister, Patti, brother, Frank, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Michael Laudino is the third generation of family to work at the company. In a letter to Aaron & Co. team members, suppliers and friends, co-owner Barry Portnoy noted Richard Laudino joined the company after graduating from Rutgers University more than 40 years ago.More
