attendees at last week's inaugural

When Katie Poehling of First Supply and Ashley Martin of NIBCO decided to start a group just for women in the plumbing industry through ASA, they were hopeful in their expectations. ASA OPR Enhances Wholesaler-Distributor's Ability to Grow
American Supply Association
Most companies use ratio comparatives to discover strengths and weaknesses. However, these tools are used only for performance measurement and not to provide remedies to financial problems. It is the use to which you put these ratios that will determine their real value. For more than 30 years, participating ASA member wholesalers have been putting ratio comparatives to use through the association's annual Operating Performance Report. Companies that participate in the OPR receive detailed survey results for primary business segments in the PHCP and PVF industry. Participation is now open for the 2014 ASA OPR. The April 30 early response deadline is approaching. Please contact Chris Murin at 630-467-0000, ext. 204, or at for more information. Click here to participate in the survey.More

Natural gas was primarily needed as electric utility coal replacement and for winter heating needs.More

Builders and Remodelers Expect Growth Despite Adjusted Forecasts
By Michael J. Berens
Projections are down, but hopes are up. That in a nutshell is the assessment of the current state of the home building and remodeling industries as the books close on the first quarter of 2014. Unusually harsh and prolonged winter weather in much of the country from January to March, along with economic instability, dampened the momentum that the home construction and remodeling industries built up during the second half of 2013. Nonetheless, the arrival of spring has brought signs of new business and renewed optimism that 2014 will yet turn out well.More
