ASA Young Executives Meet in Charlotte

This past week, 135 of ASA's Young Executives met in Charlotte, North Carolina, for the group's Annual Spring Forum. 2015 was once again a record-breaking Spring Forum attendance year for one of ASA's fastest-growing divisions. Southwest Central Distributors Kickoff 2015 Programs

ASA's new Region Southwest Central Distributors launched it's 2015 programming with a high-energy session entitled "Sell to Win by Advancing Your Ability" with speaker Dirk Beveridge (right) in Denver, Dallas and Houston. Six education and six networking sessions will be offered at the local level throughout the region along with a ASA Showroom Managers Meeting June 10-11 in Dallas. Distributor Performance Remains Varied by Region, Segment

ASA member wholesaler-distributors reported a median sales growth of 6.3% for the month ending April 30, 2015, compared to the same month last year. Calendar year-to-date, all respondents reported a median sales increase of 7.2%, and the median increase for the trailing twelve months is 5.2%. Inventory rose 3.6% compared to a year ago, and the median three-months average days' sales outstanding edged up to 45.3 days. Nearly 54% of the respondents reported an increase in gross margin percentages, and company YTD profit before taxes increased for over 55% of the total sample. Two-thirds of respondents reported having more Full-Time Equivalent employees compared to a year ago. More

Pair of Industry Groups Assemble in Washington

Bipartisan Legislation to Unlock America's Energy Potential

U. S. trade policy represents one issue where the Democratic White House and Republican-controlled Congress generally agree. However, the tragedy of U.S. embargo policies in place since the 1970s has sped up the process of dismantling the previous growth intensity of hydraulic fracking. But just last week, the bipartisan bill, S. 1312, was introduced by Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chair Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, and Senator Heidi Heitkam, D-North Dakota, to lift the decadeslong restrictions on U.S. exports of crude oil. In the current issue of PVF Outlook magazine, the quarterly publication for the end-user from ASA's Industrial Piping Division, an analysis suggests how lifting the embargo would greatly contribute to expanding the U.S. economy.
