Solid Growth a Mixed Bag for ASA Distributors in May
American Supply Association
American Supply Association distributor members on average had a solid level of growth for the month of May showing a 6.5% improvement in revenues as compared to 2012 on a per day basis; up 13.3% as compared to 2011; up 24.5% as compared to 2010 and up 29.5% as compared to 2009. Year to date the plumbing, heating and pipe, valve and fitting distributors are up 5.5% and also up 4.8% on a trailing 12 months basis. But inside the story, it is clearly a story of haves and have-nots. Geographically the coasts were significantly stronger than the midsection of the country with New York City, Connecticut, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia and California the big winners. Plumbing and heating was strong, but industrial PVF was negative. Distributors with more than $50 million in annual revenues had double-digit growth, and those with less than $15 million had none.More

Yet many of the openings will go unfilled due to a lack of awareness of qualified candidates in career opportunities in distribution. Many qualified applicants simply don't know about our industry and the real career building opportunities that exist.More
