Accelerating Growth Trend for Industrial Production
ASA Advisor©
Industrial production entered an accelerating growth trend in May after contracting since late 2015. The mining component of industrial production has underperformed the manufacturing and utilities segments, but higher commodity prices, such as for steel and copper, are helping to support recovery. The North America Rotary Rig Count is rising as firms attempt to take advantage of generally increasing prices for crude oil and natural gas. According to the analysts at ITR Economics, expect mining to rise into next year, along with manufacturing and utilities, and lift industrial production during this time. Education & Today's Labor Market Out of Sync
Imperial Consulting Corporation
We are witnessing the continued downward spiral of America's education-to-employment system that is so vital to increasing the nation's supply of talent. Wages will rise as employers chase a dwindling supply of skilled workers. The U.S. economy may also contract as employers turn to other countries that have been more successful at creating a better educated, 21st-century workforce. Today, the U.S. labor market is turned upside down by the spread of advanced technology in workplaces, and the current K-12 school system lags far behind the rate of change in the U.S. labor economy. America's education system is so drastically out of sync with the demands of a technology-driven economy as evidenced by our failure to grow a larger knowledge workforce. Major educational reform is needed in career information and preparation programs. More

The joint statement from administration officials, congressional GOP leaders and the chairmen of the tax-writing committees lays out broad goals for tax legislation, but details haven’t been finalized.
